For over 160 years, Battersea has been offering their love and expert care to dogs and cats by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals at their three centres, and by sharing knowledge and resources with rescue organisations around the world. They do this because they want to help every dog and cat, everywhere.
Having cared for more than three million dogs and cats, Battersea have acquired a wealth of expertise which has allowed them to build trust and affinity amongst animal lovers across the UK and beyond. Since 2014, more than £7 million has been received from our players. This is helping to make a difference across various areas of Battersea's work; from supporting their dedicated staff who provide world-leading behaviour training and expert care so that dogs and cats are ready for their new homes, to helping cover the cost of everyday essentials such as food, bedding and medicine.
Funding received from our players is also helping Battersea engage with the wider public; by offering online training and advice to any dog or cat owner wherever they are, by supporting rescue centres in the UK and around the world, and by campaigning for changes in the law when animals deserve better. By using their expertise to help people make informed choices when getting a pet, Battersea can use their influence to help more animals than ever before.
Ray's Story
The funding also supports Battersea's Fostering and Volunteering programmes. This has made a positive impact on dogs like Ray, who went out on foster after finding the kennels at Battersea overwhelming. His gentle personality shone through as he quickly got used to life in a home, and after four months, Ray was rehomed to a loving new family.
