Children North East
Children North East work with babies, children and young people to ensure they grow up to be healthy and happy. They want every child to feel safe and loved, resilient to challenges they may face, and valued and confident.
Children North East work with families, and within schools and communities to address their needs during critical periods growing up, providing early interventions making a life-changing difference to their futures.
Helping transform children's lives since 1891, the charity strives to meet the changing needs of children. Their current work includes:
-
Specialised therapeutic services, including connecting therapists and family practitioners to parents/carers and their babies when relationship issues arise.
-
Established mental health support for children and young people, helping them gain confidence, self-esteem and deal with their mental health needs.
-
Award-winning youth work, including youth centre provision and relationship and sexual health support. They also deliver community-based initiatives supporting, listening to and championing children and young people.
-
Family support, including domestic abuse support and providing expert intervention at times of crisis to help keep families together.
-
A UK wide Poverty Proofing© initiative, helping schools, healthcare providers and other organisations remove barriers to children and families living in poverty.
