Crisis
Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. They know that homelessness is not inevitable, and that together we can end it. They believe that in 21st century Britain, everybody should have a safe and secure place to live.
Every day the charity sees the devastating impact homelessness has on people's lives. Every year they work side by side with thousands of people, to help rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good. Together with others who share their resolve, they bring knowledge, experience and determination to campaign for changes that will end homelessness in Great Britain once and for all.
Each year, the charity supports around 8,000 people with education, housing, employment and health services in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales. At Christmas time, they run dedicated Crisis at Christmas centres providing warmth, food, health services and advice to more than 3,000 people as they take their first steps out of homelessness.
Players of People's Postcode Lottery make a massive difference to the charity's work, helping to change the lives of thousands of people. One of the ways player funding is used, is to help people with complex support needs access intensive one-to-one coaching support. Dedicated coaches provide personalised, practical help, from searching for work and CV-writing skills to completing applications and preparing for interviews. Specialist housing coaches provide renting readiness training, help with searching for flats and teach the DIY skills needed to maintain a home.
Ending homelessness means understanding the causes, finding practical solutions for individuals, and building the political will to solve it for everyone, for good. Until that day, Crisis will work side by side with thousands of people facing homelessness. It won't be easy, but together with the generosity of supporters like players of People's Postcode Lottery, homelessness can be ended.
