"Thanks to you, I felt like I had a purpose" - Anton, a Greenhouse Sports participant
Greenhouse Sports delivers high-quality sport programmes that give young people living in disadvantaged areas a chance to experience structure, goal-setting, teamwork, a sense of achievement, and mutual respect.
Since 2002, Greenhouse Sports has engaged 50,000 young people, working with qualified coaches who are technically skilled in addition to being excellent role models and mentors. Through the relationships developed with participants, Greenhouse Sports coaches are able to effect change in the long-term development of their social, thinking, emotional, and physical skills.
The Summer of 2018 saw the official opening of The Greenhouse Centre, a dedicated community centre in the heart of London. From daily sports sessions and after school clubs for local primary school children, to workshops for local community organisations on wellbeing, health and nutrition, the Centre is a hive of activity every day of the week, all thanks to the players of the People's Postcode Lottery. As HRH Prince Harry remarked on opening the Centre, "What a place for young people to come and play sport. It seems like there are a lot of people that don't understand the impact that a place like this can have on a whole generation…"
Béatrice Butsana-Sita, CEO of Greenhouse Sports, said, "Thanks to the players of People's Postcode Lottery that Greenhouse Sports coaches are able to support over 7,000 young people from some of the most disadvantaged postcodes across London, on a daily basis."
