Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance

Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) exists so that no one in Scotland should die because help cannot get there in time. People can get sick or have accidents anywhere at any time. But in Scotland, there are places where urgent medical help cannot reach people, and when lives are at risk, every minute matters.

SCAA is Scotland's only charity air ambulance. It's pilots and highly trained paramedics ensure that life-saving medical support gets to seriously ill and injured patients in time to save their lives, no matter where the incident has happened, be that on the A9, or a hillside, or a home on one of our Scottish Islands. Patients can be stabilised and then transported to the most relevant specialist hospital to receive the most appropriate advanced care.

SCAA has two helicopter air ambulances, Helimed 76 in Perth and Helimed 79 in Aberdeen. With two rapid response vehicles providing an additional valuable resource, SCAA is able to play a significant role in strengthening Scotland's Emergency Response Network.

SCAA is there for the people of Scotland when they need it. All beneficiaries will have experienced a time-critical trauma or health emergency. They can be of any age, from babies through to very elderly and frail patients.
