Whizz Kidz
Whizz Kidz makes a world of difference in the lives of young wheelchair users
Whizz Kidz is the UK's leading charity for young wheelchair users. They provide the equipment and skills young wheelchair users need to live life as independently as possible. To enjoy all the opportunities and activities that so many others take for granted ‐ at home, at school, at work and beyond.
There are over 75,000 young people in the UK who need to use a wheelchair to be mobile. Unfortunately, they cannot access the equipment that fully meets their needs through local services. Whizz Kidz is committed to making a difference in the lives of young wheelchair users. That's why they've invested £2.6 Million since 2020 to support their mission of providing life-changing mobility equipment, vital support, and unforgettable experiences to young people and families across the UK.
As well as providing equipment, Whizz Kidz also runs a range of sessions designed to build confidence, independence, and employability, including Wheelchair Skills Training, activity days and work placements - reducing isolation and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our community.
- Wheelchair Skills Training (2-25 years old): Whizz Kidz Wheelchair Skills Training helps young people navigate the world with confidence, safety and even a little style. They run accredited training days and even offer train the trainer opportunities for teachers, parents, or carers.
- Activity Programmes (8-25 years old): Whizz Kidz activity days are a great way to meet other young people, have fun and make friends. From wheelchair rugby to rock climbing, adventure days, creative arts and digital skills, their range of activities has something everyone can enjoy.
- Employment Skills (14-25 years old): Whizz Kidz Employment Skills programmes are accredited through the Skills & Education Group. They include CV and interview training, work placements and internship opportunities, helping young people build the experience, skills and confidence they need to reach their potential.
